Delicious is an understatement: Cayanne Caramel Ganache in a yellow cupcake

My boyfriend and I finally mustered up our sweet tooth to head out to Eclipse Chocolate on El Cajon Blvd. here in San Diego, Ca. And Oh Boy was it rewarding! It was a wednesday so there were only a handful of cupcake flavors to choose from, a handful of rocky road flavors, and a handful of truffles and chocolates. But umm...as first timers we got a glazed look of pleasure on our faces trying to decide. We ended up leaving with an espresso rocky road (had one bite and home - lots left over--and it was decadent!). The cupcake we devoured and drooled over. It was a delicious moist yellow cake (yes I just used the word 'moist' which I hate but in terms of cake it's an absolute necessary) had a center of caramel ganache topped with chocolate and caramel cayenne flakes. It took me back to my college Patisserie working days in Walla Walla--ingredients so fine & assembled in such a perfect way. True treat.
