thoughtful nothings...

It makes me happy to make other people happy in life. I often do small acts of love/kindness without rhyme or reason...simply because. In my mind unexpected kind acts are the best kind. Here are a few fun ideas to surprise a friend, a coworker, a family member, and/or loved one (or even someone completely random if you have the balls):

Coffee cup entertainment--Grabbing a cup of Joe for someone is always a nice gesture. But before the barista pours the coffee ask for the cup and spend a few minutes decorating the paper cup with funny sayings, inside jokes, sweet nothings, pictures, words of encouragement, whatever...you'll have fun decorating too.

My cousin created her own thoughtful fridays. She calls it Charity friday--pretty self-explanatory but each friday she chooses a charity she believes in and supports them by donating time or money. What a great outlet to help out the community!

My boyfriend brought me roses the other day. I've never received a bouquet of flowers from anyone and it was completely unexpected. I honestly swelled with happiness. They're on my table dead now but I hate to throw them away because of what they mean to me. While roses/flowers may seem cliche for some people--it was appropriate for me and he knew that because he LISTENS! He's also done other random acts of "sweetness" for me (like fixing my bike, installing a water filter he knew I wanted, buying a new juicer because mine broke). Little things that make me happy because he listened. Thank you babe.

A hug. Seriously! Something as simple and low-cost as a hug can brighten anyone's day. You never know what other people are going through in life so how can a hug at any time hurt? Be sure to ask first because some people have a touching issue. But, research shows: women who got hugs several times a day from their husbands had lower blood pressure than those who didn’t get hugged as often.
*Interesting fact: to be most effective at optimizing the flow of the chemicals oxytocin and serotonin – which boost mood and promote bonding – hold a hug for at least six seconds.
