On the 5-Hour Energy website, the manufacturers claim, “The key ingredients in 5-Hour Energy are also available in every day foods—like broccoli, avocados, bananas, and apples—or already in you.” A ConsumerLab.com analysis, released today, found otherwise. “The real key ingredient, as far as creating a sense of energy, is the caffeine, which is not in those foods,” says Tod Cooperman, M.D., founder of ConsumerLab.com. Another interesting note: The ConsumerLab.com analysis found that 5-Hour Energy Berry contained only about 76 percent of its claimed folic acid—a B-vitamin that helps convert food into energy.
In short, a lot of these products false advertise. And, the FDA doesn't regulate them very well. Research the supplements you're putting in to your body. And again again again the best advice is to eat REAL FOOD! Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food. (Drink some mate, matcha and get a good night's rest!)
