Dessert for Breakfast, yes please!!

It's fall which means pumpkins (which I will overdo this season don't you worry) and Apples! We can't forget about those lovely fruits in season simply because with the ingenuity of transported groceries we can get them all year long (from far off places such as, Peru). Apple pies and turnovers have become the norm at a lot of fall parties and mass productions at joints like Marie Calendar's has killed the health and flavor benefits these 'should-be healthy-scrumptious' dishes can provide.

So, I'm sharing one of my favorite and easiest health dessert...I mean breakfast. Seriously it's interchangeable on this one. I ate it for breakfast just now but it's a sweet delight so it would definitely satisfy an after dinner sugar craving. I've also provided the health benefits it offers! Read on...

For one serving, in a microwave safe container place:
2 apples, chopped (variety of your choice)
1/4 cup oats
1/8 cup raisins (cranberries or dates if you prefer)
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of vanilla extract
*optional: 1/8c walnuts, chopped

Microwave for 3 minutes or until apples are slightly smooshy. Let cool then drizzle with honey and enjoy!

*Note: If you're using this for dessert you can add a crumble topping (try this one here!) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream (a la mode =) or spray of whipped cream! This full apple crisp recipe HERE is a good one to follow for a multi-person dessert.

Health Benefits? You made it at home with real food so yes there are!!
Apples-- antioxidants, bone health, Vit. C, pectin in fiber (maintain blood sugar levels & keeps you full longer)
Oats-- Beta-glucan fiber (lowers cholesterol levels), and complex carbs (slow to break down helps blood sugar stabilize = helps diabetes), colon cancer, & obesity**
Raisins--concentrated nutrients = energy! Antioxidants, amino acids, minerals, lowers cholesterol
Cinnamon-- Immunity booster! Antioxidants, inhibit bacterial growth, increase food satiety, stabilize blood sugar
honey-- Immunity booster! Antibiotic, antimicrobial, antifungal, easy sugar to slowly digest
**Confused about which oats to use? Check this link here out.
